Matthew Cataldi, while receiving his undergraduate degree from Indiana and graduate degree from Northwestern, has made performing appearances in the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Denmark and Holland. Early in his performance career, Mr. Cataldi was a member of regional, state, and national high school orchestras and participated in many local area ensembles, both orchestra and chamber. Professionally he has performed on numerous subscription concerts with many orchestras across the mid-west.
In addition to his orchestral participation, Mr. Cataldi has participated in such chamber music contests as the OSTA, OMEA, and Fischoff Chamber Music Competitions. He has appeared solo with the Upper Arlington & Springfield Symphony Orchestras and as an MTNA National Solo Finalist, Mr. Cataldi has also been the winning recipient of numerous solo competitions and scholarships.
Since the onset of his curiosity in early music set in motion by Dr. Davis Brooks, he furthered his studies of early music at Indiana University with Stanley Ritchie. Concerts in the early music style include performances with Ingrid Matthews, Mary Springfels, Garry Clarke, Marty Davids, Kathryn Montoya, and Stephen Alltop. His current ventures have led him to the participate in the United States premiere of La Buona Figola (The Good Servant Girl), an opera buffa work written by Niccolo Piccini. Currently, Mr. Cataldi is performing with the Blue Lake, Rockford, Elmhurst, and Green Bay Symphony Orchestras. He has given chamber concerts with the Rockford Bach Ensemble, Caprice Music Ensembles, the Mendelssohn Chamber Arts Series, and the Meadowmount School of Music. Solo concerts will be planned for the late month of October and will be recorded and available for listening starting in Novemeber.
