Teaching
As an instructor, I have found that there are many things in teaching that are also true in life.

For younger students, much of learning is done through imitation. In my 6 years as a private violin instructor, I have come to realize that the human mind has a tremendous sub-conscious capacity to learn without words. For students under 13, imitation is the most effective way to learn.

For older students, Performance Anxiety, an extension of the more widely know Perfectionism Complex, is the single mental construct that holds students from fully developing their skills. Combined with imitation, I help my students to better understand the mental processes which are involved in their own personal learning, a skill which can be taken to other fields as well.

Whether the student is a child, adolescent, collegiate student, or an adult learner, I create a safe environment for all my students where all judgment (outside and internal) /is removed. This is a slow process but once learned in combination with Suzuki and traditional string pedagogical methodology, progress can be immediately seen.
