Violinist & Teacher
Teaching & Lessons
Successful students are reflective of their supportive teachers.  While knowledge about the learning process is invaluable in teaching, equally important is a supportive, encouraging environment.  My goal as a teacher is to fully realize my students' potential which means that they must enjoy their work, feel free to experiment with methods learned and untried, and develop a positive sense of self-esteem in order to achieve their personal best.  Additionally, my musical objectives blend skills, knowledge, and innovative thinking strategies:
  • To increase basic mind/body coordination skills
  • To develop musical knowledge through effective learning strategies
  • To build interpretative abilities through creative thinking
  • To enhance cultural and artistic understandings conveyed through music.

Since students begin study at different ages, I design an individual personalized course of study for each student, pace the learning process based on the student progress, and use several different methodologies and materials to meet a student’s developmental needs.  Materials include methodologies from Suzuki, Doflein, Sassmannshaus, The North American School of Folk Music, Galamian, Gillespie, Kjelland and Zweig.

For younger students, I encourage parents to participate in both their child's learning and lessons.  This involvement helps parents understand the practice process creating empathy and patience for their children in the learning process and allows the child and their parents an opportunity to accomplish mutual goals together in music, creating a stronger bond between parent and child.

For students and parents better understand how I conduct my sessions, I offer a free no-obligation trial lesson.  I accept students of all backgrounds and skills ages 4 to 80.  I also coach small chamber ensembles.  If you are interested in having lessons, please feel free to contact me at  or call at .

My studio is located at the corner of Greenwood and Elmwood in the center of Evanston, IL just one block NW of Chicago & Dempster.
